Guardians of Deephall

Crypt Dragon is a monster found in the fourth Hero and Monster Collection set, Guardians of Deephall. It was first found in the Second Edition Conversion Kit.

Description

These horrific creatures of legend spew from their cavernous jaws black fire that burns even under water. The most powerful dragons are so terrifying that even the most courageous warriors are sometimes paralyzed with fear in the midst of battle.

While other dragons hoard items for their great value or shining brilliance, crypt dragons are far more interested in items of great magic or fate. These powerful artifacts have been known to carry dreadful curses and terrorize settlements near the tombs and graveyards where these beasts build their hoards.

Abilities

  • Blast: This attack affects all figures adjacent to the target space.
  • Cause Fear: Choose a hero adjacent to this monster. That hero must test Willpower. If he fails, he moves 2 spaces directly away from this monster and is Immobilized.
  • Horrifying: Each hero adjacent to 1 or more monsters with Horrifying applies -1 to his Willpower (to a minimum of 1).

Trivia

  • Crypt Dragons first appeared in the base game from Descent: Journeys in the Dark (first edition), where they were referred to simply as "Dragons."
  • In the Conversion Kit, this monster group during Act II had a health of 6 instead of 7 for the minion, and all figures lacked the Horrifying ability.
