-- Trella <staff />Hero Template
Lemme know what you think of the template I created for heroes. If it works, all good, if not, feel free to change it or tell me what I should change. An example of it can be found at Sandbox. Firedale2002 (talk) 07:28, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I really like that! The only suggestions I have are for the hero archetype ("Scout") to be labeled (which we could just do in the box anyway, since there's plenty of space), and maybe making it so the numbers for the attributes (Awareness, et al) have the same sized boxes as the icons for them (thank you so much for uploading images of those as well!). I'm sure the latter is really easy to do... I'm just not very good with templates to begin with. But it really looks great! Ursulaboi (talk) 17:24, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
- What do you think of it now? Check out Sandbox. Firedale2002 (talk) 11:51, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
Hello!
I'm knew to editing here on wikia. As an overlord that uses this every time I go to plan, I thought I would edit the cards you don't have on here, such as heroes and monsters in the conversion kit.
As I said, I'm new, so would would be great if someone could come and check my work. Also, these templates are awesome!! Thank you so much. It makes life much easier. I don't know how to edit them to take out areas, such as if a beastly only has two or three special, therefore one of two from the template need to be take out. I also don't know how to remove "special 1" out of the template. If someone could either tell me how to do this, or just go and finish the work I would be a happy kitten.
You guys are awesome. I am excited to help this along.

- Thank you for the kind words, and for helping out! I've checked out a few of your edits and you're doing a great job. For the "Special 1/2/3/4" bar, look at the Ogre. Under minion and master for both Acts, it say "{{Monster4". In order to only have 2 or 3 Special slots, you have to reduce the number. So, since the Ogre only has two specials, it should say, "{{Monster2". If there's three specials, Monster3. Hope that helps, and thanks again for contributing! Wonderful!
I slowly feel like I am understanding this. I am almost done with all my information I have to help with this Wiki. Last is Hero pictures. I am unsure how to put them in. I see how to upload them, but I don't know how to get the picture to appear where I need it to. Help?

Hi,
I noticed that the individual articles for the lieutenant packs are headed and introduced with the themed names, but those are the flavored names of their Plot Decks, and definitively not of the packs per se, as the Fantasy Flight previews explained. For example, Belthir's pack is called Belthir Lieutenant Pack, but the themed deck you can incorporate that comes inside it is called "Hybrid Loyalty".
I was thinking we could use this template for the head paragraph of all articles:
The (Lieutenant_name) Lieutenant Pack is a [[Lieutenant pack|Lieutenant pack]] featuring [[L Name|L Name]] from the (Base Game/Expansion X). It includes the Plot deck '(Plot deck name)'.
i.e.
The Belthir Lieutenant Pack is a Lieutenant Pack featuring Belthir from the base set of Descent Journeys in the Dark, second edition. It includes the Plot deck 'Hybrid Loyalty'.
(Raphaelus13 (talk) 02:23, January 8, 2014 (UTC))
- That makes sense! I didn't really know that those weren't the names of the individual packs (plus I think "Hybrid Loyalty" sounds better than "Belthir Lieutenant Pack"), but the names on the boxes do indicate that "(Lieutenant Name) Lieutenant Pack" is the correct title. I will work on adjusting them, or you can feel free to revert their names. Thanks for bringing it up to me!
Ursulaboi (talk) 15:17, January 8, 2014 (UTC)
- I've started renaming them and have them modeled after the Eliza Farrow Lieutenant Pack. I think the plot deck information should be on the same page as the lieutenant pack rather than it's own separate page, though each of the plot cards should have their own page. Ursulaboi (talk) 23:32, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
Ok.
To be clear, you're making new article pages with the new names instead of transforming, passing the content, and deleting the content from the previous mage
I google how to add redirection, and its luckly pretty easy:
In a blank page: #redirectPage title
I'll add redirection to the specific pack info page from the blank plot-deck name article, and it all fits nicely.
(Raphaelus13 (talk) 04:59, January 13, 2014 (UTC))
- I haven't been making new article pages, I've been renaming them which automatically creates a redirect. :) Ursulaboi (talk) 00:22, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

Hello all,
I edited Overlord card section for Descent 2nd ed. wiki (added some cards from expansions, nothing fancy), and I really liked it. I would like to contribute more after I get back from my vacation (in a week or two). I can list item cards, missing Overlord cards or whatever. If you have any tips, please send me a message. :) I currently don't own Trollfens and some Lieutenant packs, so I will add stuff from other expansions, missing base game components. Looking forward to contributing for this project!

1. What do you think is best for updating heroes and monsters with changed stats and abilities: change it as soon as the info is revealed or wait until the H&M packs are released?
Whichever version is not present in the main layout, it can be explained from now in a "Notes" section.
Regardless, regarding the updated pictures I think they should both appear somewhere. I was thinking we could do this:
- Heroes: The New art goes in the table box for its stats, and the old art at the top right in a smaller size (130-150px).
- Monsters: These look weird both appearing in the same screen/scroll section both on the right. I played with puting them on the right side inside the Abilities secction, separated enough, with the caption "Descent 1st gen. art." oslt.
2. Also, I was thinking that the front page should have a line with small font at the bottom of "Descent Journeys in the Dark and related terms, art, and names are property of Fantasy Flight Publishing, Inc."
Maybe even have it as part of the page layout on every article page at the bottom?

- Hello!
- 1. I think the heroes and monsters should be updated as the information is released. FFG typically releases all the information we need before the release of the expansion. In the notes section, there should be any changes from the Conversion Kit version to the updated 2nd edition version. Minor changes like wording of text don't need to be mentioned in the articles, only major changes. In regards to the artwork, I was planning on adding galleries to each of the heroes/monsters/lieutenants, to show any and all official artwork depicting them, as well as high-res photos of the miniatures. The most recent art should be for the main articles, and the galleries will include the Conversion Kit art and the miniature photos.
- 2. Feel free to add that to the main page! I don't think it should be added to each page individually, though.
- Also, please make sure you're checking other pages for the layout types while editing new pages. :) I really appreciate all your help on this wiki!

Hello!
I've started filling out a lot of Overlord content that the wiki was lacking, and I've made these two observations:
1. A lot of articles redundantly restate information just to have some "textual meat", which is a bad practice I think we should avoid. Here and here are example, where the body of the article is just the card's description reformulated. I think it would be better if we used the article body to provide clarifications and relevant FAQ entries, and left the card's usage to the card itself on the side.
2. There are some high resolution pictures of the cards that have been uploaded to the wiki (example here). While these look nice, they don't actually serve much purpose since we are manually putting the rules and costs of the cards in the wiki for easy access. These high resolution pictures might make it more likely that we get in copyright trouble with Fantasy Flight Games, as they might be afraid that people would print them and use them without buying their product. I would recommend removing such 1:1 pictures of the cards, as they serve little practical purpose to this wiki.
Drakim (talk) 13:21, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
- Very true about the copyright issues. I will begin removing the images of the actual cards. Also, feel free to edit the individual card pages for clarifications and FAQs. I really appreciate your suggestions! Ursulaboi (talk) 13:57, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
- I've also given you Administrative rights so you are able to delete things as you find fit. :) Ursulaboi (talk) 14:06, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the greeting - this wiki is great; hope to contribute content of use and will make sure to learn how to format correctly in short order!
Typos in Pages
Is there an easy way to fix the name of Enfeebling Hex ? "Enfleebling" just drives me crazy. Renamed it. :) Good catch! Ursulaboi (talk) 21:03, April 18, 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't figure out how to rename a page. Did you have to create a new one and change the old one to autoforward? Something else? My edits appeared limited to the text on the page, not the name of the page. Mekthakkikt (talk) 23:00, April 18, 2015 (UTC)
BTW, should the Doom and Doomed pages be merged? Mekthakkikt (talk) 02:56, April 26, 2015 (UTC) Possibly answering my own question - they're separate because of the way the ?ability tool? pulls in the text, right? I do think the conditions and abilities that cause them should be overtly cross linked. Mekthakkikt (talk) 00:00, April 28, 2015 (UTC)
No, I agree with you. I was just saying it is useful to have a quick link from one to the other. Mekthakkikt (talk) 23:08, April 28, 2015 (UTC)
Just so you know, the "A wikia contributor" changes from April 22 were mine. I forgot to log in on my computer since I made a few updates earlier in the day at work.
I took the time to update the Overlord Cards. A lot were missing from Lair of the Wyrm, Shadow of Nerekhall was completely absent, and links weren't made for Manor of Ravens. All patched up! I'll look forward if I can see anything else to help on while using this wiki.

Hey,
I thouht I'll give the monster page a little update because I found some mistakes.
When I came to the traits I noticed there are no pages for 'Ruins' and 'Temple'.
I really like to do that, but here is my question:
Where did you get the icons for the traits? Couldn't find anything on the web. Need some for 'Ruins' and 'Temple'.
Install loops extension
Heya.
Could you add the loops extensions and the Variables extension to this mediawiki?
I wrote a template to make a standardised "Q & A" similar to what Nimble looks like.
The code currently looks like this:
<includeonly> {| {{ #vardefine: i | 1 }}{{ #while: | {{{ question_{{#var: i }} |}}} |<nowiki/> {{!}}- {{!}} '''Q:''' {{{ question_{{#var: i }} |}}} {{!}}- {{!}} '''A:''' {{{ answer_{{#var: i }} |}}} {{!}}- {{!}} [{{{ source_{{#var: i }} |}}} source] {{{ reference_{{#var: i }} |}}} {{!}}- {{!}} <br> {{#vardefine: i | {{ #expr: {{ #var: i }} + 1 }} }} }} |} </includeonly>
and can be used like this:
{{QA | question_1=Is it true? | answer_1=Yes | source_1=http://google.com | reference_1=Someone i know | question_2=Is it true? | answer_2=No | source_2=http://yahoo.com | reference_2=A random git on the street | question_3=Is it true? | answer_3=Maybe | source_3=https://duckduckgo.com/ | reference_3=Your Mother }}
This relies on loops to be able to generate dynamically long tables with new entries.
It is no way near finished, but a starting point.
Thanks.
